BISMUTH MAXIMUM STRENGTH IS USED FOR :
Bismuth Maximum Strength is used to treat indigestion, nausea, diarrhea; to relieve stomach cramps and to prevent traveler s diarrhea.
USING BISMUTH MAXIMUM STRENGTH :
The liquid form of Bismuth Maximum Strength must be shaken well before pouring each dose. Chewable tablets must be chewed thoroughly or dissolved in the mouth. Non-chewable tablets and caplets must be swallowed whole with a glass of water. The dose may be repeated every 30 minutes to one hour as needed but no more than 8 doses should be taken in a 24 hour period.
SIDE EFFECTS OF BISMUTH MAXIMUM STRENGTH :
Bismuth Maximum Strength is generally well tolerated. Stools may appear gray-black in color while taking Bismuth Maximum Strength. Do not be alarmed. This will disappear when the medication is stopped. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS WHILE TAKING BISMUTH MAXIMUM STRENGTH :
Tell your doctor if you have: other illnesses, allergies (especially drug allergies). Bismuth Maximum Strength should be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Since small amounts of Bismuth Maximum Strength are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
MEDICATION INTERACTIONS TAKING BISMUTH MAXIMUM STRENGTH :
Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take, including: aspirin, blood thinners, tetracycline antibiotics, medications for diabetes, medications for gout. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
IF YOU OVERDOSE WITH BISMUTH MAXIMUM STRENGTH :
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include ringing in ears, dizziness, confusion, and coma.
IF YOU MISS A DOSE WITH BISMUTH MAXIMUM STRENGTH :
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double-up the dose to catch up.
HOW TO STORE BISMUTH MAXIMUM STRENGTH :
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. The liquid may be stored in the refrigerator to improve the taste, but it is not necessary. Do not store in the bathroom.
